Shortlist For UEFA Player Of The Year - 2016/17
The shortlist for the UEFA Player of the Year award for 2016/17 has now been drawn up by a panel of 80 coaches and 55 journalists.
The award will be presented at the 2017/18 Champions League group stage draw in Monaco on Thursday August 24 and Gianluigi Buffon (Italy and Juventus), Lionel Messi (Argentina and Barcelona) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal and Real Madrid) make up the top three - Messi and Ronaldo have both won the award twice before, with Ronaldo claiming it last season.
The rest of the top ten were:
4: Luka Modric (Croatia, Real Madrid)
5: Toni Kroos (Germany, Real Madrid)
6: Paulo Dybala (Argentina, Juventus)
7: Sergio Ramos (Spain, Real Madrid)
8: Kylian Mbappe (France, Monaco)
9: Robert Lewandowski (Poland, Bayern Munich)
10: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden, Manchester United)
In terms of the Europa League Player of the Season award, the three shortlisted there were Manchester United trio Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba.
The remaining top ten were:
4: Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon, now Arsenal) - 70 points
5: Kasper Dolberg (Ajax) - 40 points
6: Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) - 37 points
7: Davy Klaasen (Ajax, now Everton), Ander Herrera (Manchester United) - 33
9: Bertrand Traoré (Ajax, now Lyon) - 28 points
10: Edin Džeko (Roma) - 23 points
The winner will be announced at the Europea League group stage draw in Monaco on August 25.
