Vital View - Champions League, 2nd-3rd May 2017

The Champions League season continued with the first legs of the semi-finals, played in midweek.

It looks as if Real Madrid will see off Atletico Madrid with Juventus also having one foot in the Cardiff final, holding a good advantage after their first leg.

Here's a round-up of the Champions League action.

Real Madrid 3-0 Atlético Madrid 19:45

Wednesday 3rd May 2017 - CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - SEMI-FINALS
Monaco 0-2 Juventus 19:45

Real Madrid took a giant step towards the Champions League final - in the quest to become the first side to defend this trophy in the current format - with an emphatic 3-0 win over Madrid rivals Atletico Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday.

Cristiano Ronaldo's hat trick has put Real very much in the driving seat to make a third final in four seasons.

It's not over but Monaco will have their work cut out to overthrow a 2-0 deficit against soon to be Italian champions Juventus, closing in on a sixth successive Scudetto. Juve managed to shut out the attacking prowess of Barcelona over two legs in the quarter-finals so would fancy their chances in the Turin return next week.

Gonzalo Higuain's brace, a goal in each half, has the Bianconeri well set for third Champions League final in three seasons of their own, which compares favourably with holders Real Madrid.
